Today, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Catherine McKenna, announced the Healthy Communities Initiative. $31 million will be dedicated to funding community-led projects that address specific needs arising from COVID-19. The three eligible project types are:

  • Creating safe and vibrant public spaces
  • Improving mobility options
  • Digital solutions

The initiative seeks to support local government and community partnerships. Funding is provided to non-governmental not-for-profit organizations who will then work directly with municipalities, local governments, Indigenous communities and non-for-profit community partners.
