In October, Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) announced the Michigan Clean Water Plan, a $500 million investment to rebuild Michigan’s water infrastructure. Included in the Plan is a $37.5 million Drinking Water Asset Management (DWAM) grant intended to help communities inventory their infrastructure and planning for ongoing management of critical assets.

Through the Drinking Water Asset Management grant, municipalities are eligible to allocate funds towards AMP creation and updates related to asset inventories, condition assessments, level of service, criticality assessments, revenue structure development, and Capital Improvement Planning. Software used directly for asset management is also eligible under the DWAM grant.

Applications will be accepted continuously on a quarterly basis until all funding is exhausted. The first deadline in January 1, 2021. $15 million of the available $37.5 million will be allocated for small and medium sized municipalities (population of 10,000 or less).

Full details on the grant, as well as the application form, can be found on EGLE’s website.
