The Emerging Regulatory Landscape for Asset Management and Public Agency
This 20-minute thought leader presentation will explore the rising trend of state and provincial governments mandating asset management plans (AMPs) from public agencies. The session will provide a historical overview of the regulatory landscape, highlighting Ontario Regulation 588/17, which has influenced policy development across North America and globally. Attendees will learn about the key elements that governments impose on municipalities to drive AMP adoption and understand what a compliant AMP should entail.
In this session, attendees will gain a full understanding of the key differences between asset management and maintenance management, but also how they work together to better a community. The presenter will provide an overview of the systems that support them and the importance of aligning them, and how well-defined O&M practices can support strategic asset management.

For many on their Asset Management journey, facility inventories have proven to be more challenging than all other asset groups as each facility by nature can be very unique within an organization. Because of this, it becomes more complex to build an internal process that will meet the needs of every facility type for asset management, facility management, and financial management purposes. In this session, participants will enhance their understanding of the power and importance of accurate facility data assets.
